i bought my sanyo vpc-w800 one friday afternoon. After 4 days of use, the shutter had a problem, it would not close. After repeated opening and closing of the camera, the shutter was back on its normal state. The big problem, however, was the camera itself, hanging when I had my pictures playbacked. The camera hanged when the button was on the video. It (the camera) would not proceed to the other function nor close or shut down. I had to remove the battery after repeated action of shutting it down. This happened twice and I was so disappointed with this camera (Actually, I have many sanyo appliances and this is their only product which i would not recommend to anyone.) Furthermore, the appliance center where i bought it refused to have it replaced with a new one saying they could not see any problem at that time. But what if that same problem happens when I am in the middle of taking pictures related to my work and hobby? Officials of Sanyo, please act on this review!

This camera is just perfect for everyone. The reason i bought this camera is because of the battery. You see, i hate AA batteries. About the specification, it have face detection and red eye reduction which most camera nowadays have. You might wanna use this with no flash this summer. The reason is the same as David, "the flash is very bright". It is user-friendly. I bought this with a camera case, strap-on and a mini tripod. The scene mode is perfect! Sepia, Monochrome, Sport, etc. etc.! Yaay! This camera might not be the best but it is good compare to other digital cameras.
Problems: Haven't experience one though.

Purchased this camera off the net for £60 Argos are selling it for £87. For a 28 mm wide angle camera (ideal for views, room interiors, buildings) this is a very very cheap price. Please note some sites advertise it as 18 mm wide angle when it is not. It is metal bodied but feels very light. The screen on the back is huge. The controls are very well laid out and the settings menus are easy to read, use and follow. I was a little disappointed about the slimness of the body, it is 24 mm thick, but on the other hand it is quite comfortable to hold. I wanted a spare battery and sent for a 1200 mah DS8330, but it didn't fit despite the original battery being labelled DS8330. The original battery had larger cut outs on the corners so I used a craft knife to enlarge these on the new battery and made it fit - I don't recommend doing this, make sure you order the right version of the DS8330 instead. I bought a case off ebay, Crumpler - John Thursday 45; which is ideal for this camera and takes a spare battery and sd card too. In respect of picture taking these appear to be excellent from my amateur perspective, especially flash photos, the flash is very bright. The video has sound which not all digicams have but I ave not used this feature yet.
Problems: None, but battery replacement could be a mission.
